Hi, i have my elastic search configured as master and data node on same machine. The filebeats installed on that machine ships logs to kibana and its indexed but when i install filebeat on the remote server , and point it to the same elasticsearch cluster, i dont see the logs of the remote server in kibana even though the logs are shipped to elasticsearch.

Please don't post pictures of text, they are difficult to read and some people may not be even able to see them.
when i install filebeat on the remote server
Would you mind posting the filebeat.yml
that you are using on this remote server? Please be sure to mask any sensitive information in it.
i dont see the logs of the remote server
Could you elaborate on what type of logs you want to collect? Could you also post the results of ./filebeat modules list
, run on the remote server?
Thanks,
Shaunak

======================== Elasticsearch Configuration =========================
NOTE: Elasticsearch comes with reasonable defaults for most settings.
Before you set out to tweak and tune the configuration, make sure you
understand what are you trying to accomplish and the consequences.
The primary way of configuring a node is via this file. This template lists
the most important settings you may want to configure for a production cluster.
Please consult the documentation for further information on configuration options:
https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/index.html
---------------------------------- Cluster -----------------------------------
Use a descriptive name for your cluster:
cluster.name: newes
------------------------------------ Node ------------------------------------
Use a descriptive name for the node:
node.name: data-node-1
Add custom attributes to the node:
Allow this node to be eligible as a master node (enabled by default):
node.master: false
Allow this node to store data (enabled by default):
node.data: true
#node.attr.rack: r1
---------------------------------- Network -----------------------------------
Set the bind address to a specific IP (IPv4 or IPv6):
network.host: 172.16.7.86
Set a custom port for HTTP:
http.port: 9300
For more information, consult the network module documentation.
--------------------------------- Discovery ----------------------------------
Pass an initial list of hosts to perform discovery when this node is started:
The default list of hosts is ["127.0.0.1", "[::1]"]
discovery.zen.ping.unicast.hosts: ["172.16.7.93:9300"]
#discovery.seed_hosts: ["172.16.7.86":9300"]
Bootstrap the cluster using an initial set of master-eligible nodes:
#cluster.initial_master_nodes: ["-master-node-1"]
For more information, consult the discovery and cluster formation module documentation.
so tis is what iv done after my earlier post:
i want to create the master and data nodes in different instances instead of the same instance as before. what i posted now is the elasticsearch.yaml for the datanode and im getting errors. i will post the error below:

please explain? i just copied the yaml files and the erros and pasted here.
Yes but it's extremely hard to read all of that. YAML is indent sensitive, so pasting things without making sure the format is optimised means we lose the ability to see if something is not indented correctly.
what do you want me to do?please let me know...

this has been resolved. DataNodes working and filebeats sending logs from remote server to ES
Please share the solution in the thread, it might help someone in future
