And we want to alert when it is down how can we achieve this.

could you be more specific? It's a bit hard to understand exactly what is you issue. Nevertheless it seems to be covered on our docs. There are plenty of ways you can achieve that. Have you had a look at our observability docs and the Elastic Agent Integrations?
They might help you to pinpoint which data you want to ingest and monitor to ensure your services are up and running.
