How to setup monitoring cluser in elastic cloud

Hi,

I was directed here by an elastic cloud engineer even though i'm sure you guys will direct me back away from it as I know it's not the right place.

However, I have been trying to set up a monitoring cluster for our production cluster on Elastic Cloud.

Steps taken:

  • Deployed production cluster
  • Deployed secondary monitoring cluster
  • Clicked on production cluster > gone to elasticsearch > monitoring > enable
  • Tried to select my monitoring cluster to ship logs to (doesnt exist)

Side note: Both clusters are on the same major version 7.6.2 and 7.5.2

Screenshot:

There is the option to monitor the cluster on itself which isnt recommended and not what I want to achieve.

Anyone have any ideas what I can do to solve this?

Thanks in advance.

This seems to be a contradiction. What exact version are the two clusters. I believe the version of the dedicated monitoring cluster must be equal or higher than the cluster being monitored.

By major I meant (7). Maybe i've misinterpreted what that means... Oops!

Production is v7.5.2
Monitoring is v7.6.2

So by your logic this should work? :frowning:

That should be fine. Are they in the same region?

AH! Here might be the issue  Be right back....

@Christian_Dahlqvist Thank you!

I don't think it says anywhere in the documentation that they need to be in the same region but it makes sense that they do. I am also a person who always manages to skip important information in the documentation when I skim read!
