there is a way to extend the metrics in the host >> 'view metrics' under "Infrastructure" monitoring section ?

What extra metrics would you like to have displayed there?
Tipically
we have the hosts with standard installation of
- jboss jvm (with jolokia)
- docker
and other tools that at the moment we are monitoring with standard dashboard and metricbeat modules.
The idea is to extend the standard metrics in infrastructure host detail dashboard with the metrics included in metricbeat module.
You can create an enhancement request here: https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues and label it with Infra UI and the team that builds this app will take a look at it.
