The past few days, we've experienced issues in Kibana where our indexes are not available with an informational message at the top stating 'Index Patterns: In order to visualize and explore data in Kibana, you'll need to create an index pattern to retrieve data from Elasticsearch.' It also defaults to the Management page. To resolve the issue, temporarily, we delete an index and then recreate. Then all indexes are available again. I haven't had much luck finding solutions online.

We're using kibana-6.2.2-linux-x86_64.
