Kibana - can you create a 'template' visual that the user can interact with on the fly?

Is it possible to make a visual that the user can amend on the fly?
I mean as an example you have a heatmap that compares one field against another eg age versus gender
but there are other combinations you might want to report on
eg age versus ethnicity
or gender versus ethnicity
so instead of creating 3 different visuals that basically look exactly the same but use different fields, can you create a 'template' visual that the user can interact with & choose the 2 fields it compares on the fly ?
(doesn't have to be a heatmap, could be any chart that compares 2 fields)

You could use input control to compare on values, but if you want to change fields there is no way really. You'll have to create the visualizations for all options and then create a markdown with links between each other if you want to achieve the same results.
