It would be great if we could specify multiple data mount for machines that have SSD and spinning disks and include this in topology types.
There is some functionality in the pipeline that should provide some or all of what you are looking for.
Beta1 introduces the concept of topology types, where you can set the RAM-to-storage ratio for different types of clusters. If you look at these docs, you can see a pointer to future functionality that will permit you to create allocators that are configured to specific workloads, e.g. for search (more RAM/CPU, SSD and less storage space) and logging (less RAM but high storage, incl. spinning disks).
