Synthetic monitoring or Uptime?

Hi,

I have an on-premise installation of Elastic and Kibana. The environment is very restricted and the agents are not allowed to pull configuration from a Fleet server. Therefore no Fleet server is installed.

Does this mean that I have to use the old heartbeat application to monitor the system ? Or is it possible to create a synthetics agent configuration without Fleet ?

I hoped I could create lightweight monitors using project monitors. But this page in the documentation says:

The Elastic Agent must be enrolled in Fleet (Private Locations cannot be set up using standaloneElastic Agents).

Is it possible to use synthetics without Fleet ?

Is there anyone who can give some feedback to my question ?

@olavur it's not possible to use Synthetics in closed environment without fleet. Either you must use Elastic cloud or fleet.

Alternative is to continue to use Uptime.
