We run open-source Elasticsearch (self-managed) on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and are evaluating a move to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. The official Support Matrix doesn't yet list 26.04.
Could you share:
Expected timeline for Ubuntu 26.04 to be added to the support matrix
Any known issues running Elasticsearch on 26.04 today
2 years ago there was at least one similar thread about 24.04, see here
I think there was also one about RHEL 10 shortly after that was released.
I don't think you can really expect any different now. Until it appears on the support matrix, it's not on the support matrix, and I think it unlikely someone will give a commitment to add anything there by any specific date.
None that I know, and I follow this forum pretty closely. But of course Elastic staff and other contributors may know more.
What Kevin said is accurate - we won't commit to a particular timeline for this but I expect it'll happen at some point. It's not top of the list right now, given that 24.04 LTS still has 30+ months before its standard support expires.
