Upgrade directly from 5.1.2 to 6.0.0?

Hi,

We are currently running a single instance of version 5.1.2 of elastic stack (ES, LS, Kibana, filebeat, metricbeat).

Is it save to upgrade directly 5.1.2 to 6.0.0? Or do I need to go via 5.latest?
Migrating kibana index manually (with the commands found in documentation is no problem). Don't know, what the upgrade help in 5.latest helps in additional).
