Upgrading from ES 2.1.2 to 2.3.5

Hello,

I am using this https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/2.3/rolling-upgrades.html as a reference for rolling upgrade for data nodes, but what about client and master nodes? Can I upgrade those before or after. Any particular order I should follow?
