Why does logstash do not appear in the "Managament" option?

Hi

I have just viewed a tutorial about Logstash

I am using a VM to test the X-pack capabilities and the GeoIP with private networks.
But Logstash does not appear in the 'Management' option at the left hand side.

What does this mean? How did the logs were sent to Elastic if I do not have Logstash?

Logstash only shows up in kibana if you are enable centralized logstash pipelines management or logstash monitoring.

Neither of which are required to use logstash to ingest data into Elasticsearch.

Then to add filters to Logstash I will have to do it from the command line and not like it was shown on the video.

If you use centralized pipeline management you can edit the logstash piepline (add / change filters etc) and deploy Logstash pipelines from Kibana but you have to set up per the documentation I previously gave you. That needs to be done first before it will show up in Kibana.
