I have several dedicated Logstash shippers who do not have Kibana or Elasticsearch installed.

Can I or should I install X-pack on them?

The X-Pack plugin for Logstash is required in order to be able to monitor your Logstash instances from the Monitoring UI, so if you are using monitoring I would recommend installing it.

So, X-pack on my ES cluster and then X-pack on my logstash shippers?
