Can a Platinum-Licensed Cluster's watcher query Basic-Licensed Clusters?

Hello Elastic community,​

I'm exploring the possibility of setting up Watcher alerts on a Platinum-licensed Elasticsearch cluster that would query data from other Elasticsearch clusters operating under the Basic license.​

Scenario:

  • We have a central Elasticsearch cluster with a Platinum license.​
  • There are multiple remote clusters, each running under the Basic license.​
  • The goal is for the central cluster to execute Watcher alerts based on queries to these remote Basic-licensed clusters.​

Questions:

  1. Is it technically feasible for a Watcher on a Platinum-licensed cluster to query data from Basic-licensed clusters?​
  2. Are there any licensing restrictions or technical limitations that would prevent this setup?​

Any insights or experiences shared would be greatly appreciated.​
