Hello guys, I'm relatively new to Elasticsearch and I'm trying to login to the Kibana dashboard, but on the login page, it's asking me to provide the verification code, which I'm not able to find.
For some context, I'm currently on Fedora Linux, so I was able to install Elasticsearch in my local (machine) terminal. However I ran this command when trying to load a new verification key /usr/share/kibana/bin/kibana-verification-code.
This is the output, which I assumed would've been the 6 digit code, but got this error message instead
coreyj@fedora:~$ /usr/share/kibana/bin/kibana-verification-code
Couldn't find verification code.
If Kibana hasn't been configured yet, restart Kibana to generate a new code.
No, still not working. I ran the first command you showed me, worked. The second, however did not.
Here is the same error output
coreyj@fedora:/usr/share/kibana$ ./bin/kibana-verification-code
Couldn't find verification code.
If Kibana hasn't been configured yet, restart Kibana to generate a new code.
Otherwise, you can safely ignore this message and start using Kibana.
Sorry for the late reply. So the version I'm using is 8.17.1. I did restart Kibana with this command sudo systemctl restart kibana.
And I even ran the command ./bin/kibana-verification-code again
And still got the error
Couldn't find verification code.
If Kibana hasn't been configured yet, restart Kibana to generate a new code.
Otherwise, you can safely ignore this message and start using Kibana.
My commands may differ from yours as I'm using Fedora, you may be using Ubuntu or Debian.
I'm getting a new laptop really soon, so I'm gonna boot it to Ubuntu. Because I've been having problems with Fedora on my projects
Once you get reinstalled / Ubuntu etc...
Follow our official documentation and check back
If you are just doing test etc. on your Laptop, Docker may be easier to run / upgrade etc..etc..
Yes, when I boot the laptop to Ubuntu, definitely start Elasticsearch over with Docker.
It seems like that's best approach for Elasticsearch. I'd post the link to the tutorial I used for Fedora, but it won't allow to post the link here. The popup says something about the host
