when I was at the ElasticON in Munich on Nov 6th 2025 there was a short presentation “A new era for Metrics in Elastic: Performance, Prometheus, and more” where the presenter talked about Elasticsearch being able to be a Prometheus-compatible long-term storage and PromQL support.
Are there any public accesible information for this?
When is the feature supposed to go live?
How does it affect the Elastic Agent Prometheus Integration?
How is the Prometheus data saved and queried?
The Prometheus integration we have now is not the best, since the Elastic document format was propably not designed with prometheus in mind. There is lots of premade Grafana dashboards which use PromQL and migrating them is tedious. Im really looking forward for the prometheus support in hope that it solves quite a few problems.
