Stack monitoring: self vs metricbeat monitoring

Dear all, I have an ELK 7.9.1 platform.

When I go to Kibana --> Stack Monitoring, I can see Elasticsearcxj, Kibana and Beats with SELF MONITORING, but I have the option to change to METRICBEAT MONITORING using this beat in each cluster node and Logstash independent server.

Which of these two monitoring options is the best and why???

It's also important to realize that self monitoring will be going away in 8.0 and the only option will be Metricbeat.
