Store and ship Dashboard as JSON?

Hey,

we are migration from Kibana 3 to Kibana 4.4.2 right now.

In Kibana 3 we were able store the dashboards as JSON in git and also ship them as JSON (stored under /app/dashboards/mydashboard.json) to our DEV and QA servers.

Is this not possible with Kibana 4? Do the dashboards only live in the .kibana index?

Well, and what is the recommended way to share dashboards over several instances?

We are working on APIs for KB to let you manage stuff like this, not sure on the lead time though.
