I have been using Kibana version 7.9.0 for my tasks. I would like to upgrade it to the latest version, 8.9.0, as some features supported by the latest version are urgently required.
Could you please let me know if upgrading Kibana to the latest version will not impact existing dashboards, indexes with data, and scripted fields present in the index patterns?
You cannot upgrade from 7.9 directly to 8.9, you need to upgrade first to 7.17, check the Upgrade Assistant on 7.17 to identify deprecated settings and see what you need to change before being able to upgrade to 8.9.
You also cannot upgrade just Kibana, you need to upgrade your entire Elasticsearch cluster.
The documentation about the upgrade can be found here.
Also, keep in mind that there is no SLA in this forum, if you need something urgent you need to have a paid support contract with Elastic.
