Hello Kibana Team,

I was able to install and configure ELK and x-pack-5.4.0
and able to retrieve the data of Apache logs and able to create dashboards and everything seems to be working fine except reporting option. getting below error when i try to generate dashboard in PDF format.

There was an error generating your report for the "Sample Dashboard Logs" dashboard: HeadlessError: Phantom immediately exited with: 1

server :
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.11

i see below fonts are installed and i explicitly added phantomjs in the server. below fonts also installed.

rpm -q fontconfig.i386
fontconfig-2.4.1-7.el5

$ which phantomjs
/usr/bin/phantomjs

Any suggestions to fix this issue ???

Hey @Shashidhar_Wl would you mind seeing how much free memory that you have on the server that is running Kibana? The PhantomJS process can require a moderate amount of memory, and I'm wondering whether there's too little and the process is crashing immediately.

Thank you Brandon. I don't have enough memory on this server. I will try the same settings in other server and post the updates.

I tried in the different host which is running with 32gb of RAM. got the same error. i see similar errors in the logs. could you please check.

@Shashidhar_Wl did you install phantomjs explicitly on the second box as well? And if so, would you mind describing the steps that you took to install it?

Kibana comes packaged with it's own instance of PhantomJS and I'm wondering whether they're conflicting somehow.

Step 1> $ wget https://bitbucket.org/ariya/phantomjs/downloads/phantomjs-1.9.7-linux-x86_64.tar.bz2

Step 2> $ tar -xvf phantomjs-1.9.7-linux-x86_64.tar.bz2

Step 3> $ cd phantomjs-1.9.7-linux-x86_64

Step 4> $ cd bin

Step 5> $ sudo cp phantomjs /usr/bin

To check phantomjs installed properly perform the following step :

Step 6> $ phantomjs -h

To install the dependencies on Red Hat based systems:

Step 7> $ sudo yum install fontconfig freetype libfreetype.so.6 libfontconfig.so.1 libstdc++.so.6

I tried with the phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64 also. Same issue.

@Shashidhar_Wl you shouldn't have to install a separate instance of PhantomJS to use Reporting with Kibana; however, I'm not seeing how the version that you're installing is conflicting with the version that comes packaged with Kibana.

Would you mind verifying that the following exists and you're able to run it: kibana-5.4.0-linux-x86_64/data/phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64/bin/phantomjs

Quiclk update : phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64 is not compatible on RHEL 5.11 so i copied 1.7 phantomjs to /u01/app/ELK/kibana-5.4.0-linux-x86_64/data/phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64/bin/phantomjs and tried to download the pdf of some of the reports i can download but the dashboard that i am downloading getting below timeout error.

After adding phantomjs to the kibana, reporting started working fine.

/u01/app/ELK/kibana-5.4.0-linux-x86_64/data/phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64/bin/phantomjs

Iam having the same issue and am using debian package ,using elastic 5.4.2 version ,where should I add in phantomjs in kibana.

Please do let me know ,which could be really helpful for me .

under kibana home install phantomjs like below.

data/phantomjs-2.1.1-linux-x86_64/bin/phantomjs
