Hi, I would suggest looking into Elastic App Search, it is designed to do much of the heavy lifting stuff for you.
appsearch is a paid solution, I'm just looking to learn
I think there might be some confusion, app search for the most part is free, if you look at Subscriptions | Elastic Stack Products & Support | Elastic under the Elastic App Search section, most of the features are available in the Basic license.
