Filter the list of shown in Kibana Dashboard Control

I am creating a dashboard in Kibana, and I'm using a Control for the first time, rather than an Input Control, as I have in the past.

The issue: I'm using a lens that only draws data from a subset of hosts by applying a filter to the dataset. I would also like my control to ONLY show a list of hosts, which match that filter as well, so that my users aren't confused if they select a host that doesn't generate any data for the lens.

However: This doesn't appear to be possible with the current version of Kibana I'm using (8.6.1).

My questions are: Is this possible, and how do I do this?

# Use Case As a user, I would like to add a filter to a control on a dashboar…d in order to restrict the options shown in the control without adding the filter to the entire dashboard. # Long Version I am creating a dashboard in Kibana in which I am restricting data to a subset of hosts by applying filters to the underlying data shown in each lens. However, when I add a control to the dashboard, I do not have any options to restrict the data shown in the control, like I can in a visualization. E.g., my dashboard only shows data for a subset of hosts matching specific criteria, but the control applied to the dashboard shows all hosts in the environment. I would like to be able to apply a filter to the data in the control when creating the control, the same as I can when creating a lens or other visualization. I was advised in the [discussion forum](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/filter-the-list-of-shown-in-kibana-dashboard-control) to submit this as an enhancement request. # Version Kibana 8.6.2
