Is it legal to enable free X-Pack monitoring in production environment?

Hi,

I am using ELK GA 5.0.0 in a production environment. Here are the details;

Elasticsearch

  • Version : 5.0.0 GA
  • Instances : 3 node cluster
  • OS: Oracle Linux Server release

Logstash

  • Version : 5.0.0 GA
  • Instances : 13
  • OS: Oracle Linux Server release

Kibana

  • Version : 5.0.0 GA
  • Instances : 2
  • OS: Oracle Linux Server release

Filebeat

  • Version : 5.0.0 GA
  • Instances : 50+
  • OS: Oracle Linux Server release

I would like to enable free X-Pack monitoring feature here, without enabling other X-Pack features. I will be monitoring my Elasticsearch (3), Logstash (13), and Kibana (2) instances. Is this legally alright to enable this feature here? Will there be any licensing issues? I will be enabling (adding to elasticsearch config file) monitoring configurations listed here https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/5.0/monitoring-settings.html . It would be helpful if somebody official respond to this.

Thank you.

Yes, you can run the basic license in production. You will as far as I recall however not be able to monitor Logstash, as this was not introduced until version 5.5 of the Elastic Stack.
