This is a simple question, what are the product compatibility from older versions with the stack on version 9.X?
The columns for the compatibility with Beats, Elastic Agent and Logstash in the support matrix page is empty, there is no information.
For example, I have thousand of Agents on version 8.12.1, will those agents be compatibile if a Upgrade Elasticsearch, Kibana and Fleet to version 9.X? It is not clear if this will be an issue or not.
I opened a support ticket, but also could not a get a definitive answer.
Being honest, I was expecting a bigger compatibility for the Elastic Agent, something like 7.17.X-9.0.X as it is a piece of software that may be installed in hosts that can not be frequently updated or require some change management because of compliance.
Also, this information here could be more clear:
We recommend running the latest version of Connector Clients, Beats, Logstash, Elastic Agent and ES-Hadoop; earlier versions will work with reduced functionality.
What will not work? I do not use endpoint, just the agent as a log collector with just the System, Windows, Auditd and sometimes the Osquery integration.
